| 3.50 is the best time in the discipline: to run a marathon in safety shoes. This time belongs to the 31 years old Claus Christiansen from Ringkøbing, who was persuaded to this practical joke.
Safety shoes are heavier than running shoes (200 gram), and this I could feel in my calf legs ten kilometres before the finishing line. But the shock absorption and fitting are just as good as in a pair of running shoes, says Claus Christiansen, who ran his tenth marathon today.
Four other Jutlanders also ran in Jalas new 3700 Ultima C -safety shoes, one of them was the 49 years old Hugo Schibsbye from Herning, who ran in 4 hours. His best marathon time is 3 hours. - It went according to the plan and without any kind of trouble, because the safety shoes have all the best which running shoes also have, says Hugo Schibsbye. For a living he sells safety shoes and by carrying through this marathon he has a pretty good sales argument.
Jalas attaches great importance to the weight, the toecap in the new safety shoes is for example in aluminium where you normally use the much heavier steel. At the same time the shoes have a much better climate due to a material which ventilates and swallows warm feet.
