An International innovator in work- and safety footwear

The more than 90-years-old Urho Viljanmaa Oy - Jalas is one of the leading manufacturers of spcial footwear in the Nordic countries. Jalas' main products are occupational and safety footwear for industry and the service sector. The Jalas range also includes ski-jumping boots and orienteering footwear. Exports account for 60 per cent of the production. The major markets are the Nordic countries, The European continent, the Baltic countries and Russia. The company employes more than 200 footwear professionals and is based in Jalasjärvi, Finland.

In addition to products, Jalas also invest in services. An example is the Jalas FootStop Service, a scanner service that makes footwear selections easier. Jalas offers this service in cooperation with retailers in all the Nordic countries.

In 2008, Jalas became part of the Swedish Ejendals Group. A 60-year-old family business, Ejendals AB is the largest supplier of occupational and safety footwear and gloves in the Nordic countries and has been a partner of Jalas since 1984. The combined net sales of Ejendals and Jalas in 2008 amounted to nearly 100 million euros and employees numbered some 300.
